Chalcogens make a group of chemical elements from group 16. This group is also known as the oxygen family. The group of chalcogens is the only periodic table group which contains elements in all three familiar states of matter at standard temperature and pressure. The five chalcogens that occur naturally are oxygen (O), sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te) and the radioactive polonium (Po). The synthetic element 116, livermorium may also be a chalcogen.
